2015 ‘Orvis Dealer of the Year’ Award Finalist Announcement

With over 525 US domestic independent retailers and an additional 250+ around the world from Canada to Japan and all points in between its not an easy decision picking the winner of this prestigious award. We have a very loyal and diverse group of excellent retailers that do an outstanding job selling our product and exposing the Orvis brand. This is an award not solely based on sales volume or product purchased. It includes the independent retailers support of the Orvis brand overall, product merchandising, credit rating, participation in Orvis programs such as ELOG, or FF101. In addition, and one of the more important criteria is how the retailer is view by their customer base. In other words, how do consumers rate the business overall, as customer service is paramount to success.
Our three 2015 finalists are:

- Breckenridge Outfitters, Breckenridge, CO.

The award will be announced at the Orvis Guide Rendezvous awards banquet in Missoula, Montana on Friday evening April 8th.

Foothills March Meeting

         

        

Our meeting for on Thursday, March 10th will have a program presented by Landon Williams on "Fly Fishing for Lake Run Fish in Georgia" focusing on Stripers, Walleye and White Bass. The presentation will cover time of year, rivers to fish and how to fish for each species and flies to use.  Landon has also agreed to come early (6:00 PM) to set up and show how to tie some of the flies he'll use for the lake run species.  

We will also be finalizing our plans for the "Hoot on the Hooch" on Saturday, March 19th.  Any tickets for the "Dream Trip" need to be turned in for the drawing at the Hoot.

Tie One On! fund raisers for Project Healing Water

Next week the place be is the Tie One On! fund raisers for Project Healing Water.  The gathering is March 6th from 1-to-6 pm at the Rendezvous Restaurant at the Maggie Valley Inn and Conference Center.

Fly Rod Building Class at Healing Waters - Oakwood VA

The Georgia Foothills and Gold Rush chapters of Trout Unlimited head up a group of veterans at the VA clinic at Oakwood, Ga. The current program is building fly rods for the winter months. Other programs are fly tying and fly fishing. The program is all under the umbrella of the National Healing Waters Program for our vets.

Project Healing Wasters is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing and associated activities including education and outings.
